Biographical References Concerning the Main Participants.


Michael Clebanov born in Minsk in 1970, came to Israel in 1990. Received his B. Sc. in Architecture from Haifa Technion in 1995. The particular attention was paid by him to the history of aesthetics within the framework of History of Architecture Department. Among his concrete fields of inquiry could be named such subjects as the affiliation between music and architecture, history of Russian musical thought and its dependence on political patronage through the ages (from the popular music lore down to elite composing), and general course topics of the history of aesthetics and music. Michael Clebanov is exerting himself in private architectural bureau in Haifa, keeping writing on his themes for different periodicals.

Boris Shoskeen (b. 1971) arrived in Israel from Kiev in 1990. He accomplished his studies in the department of Archeology of Haifa University in 1995. Dennis Joffe, born 1972 in Simferopol (Crimea) and came to Israel in 1990. He earned his B.A. from the Department of General History of Haifa University in 1995. His academic specialization was Cultural and Intellectual History (with methodological acknowledgments to the French School of Annals and semiological approach to the historical studies). The basic spheres of his interests lay down in the history of intellectual and methodological trends in twentieth century Europe (Russian philosophic revival, cultural situation in the West Europe in the first half of the century), history of religious dissent (popular culture and religion, sorcery) in different geographical areas (especially Siberian shamanistic religions), theory of mythology and perception of archaic realities. Among the concrete historical problems Joffe is dealing with, it should be named the issue of Slavic ethnogenesis (on linguistic grounds), history of prechristian religion of Rus', Khazars and judaistic issue in Old Rus' history. Dennis Joffe is moving towards M. A. studies in Haifa University (today he is serving in IDF journal as a responsible manager of military writers and producer for cultural themes).

Julius Regev (b. 1970) in Moscow. Graduated from Moscow Institute for the History of Literature. Today he is learning for M. A. In Russian Literature and Philosophy in Hebrew University. He produced a number of academic articles and essays dealing with the cultural history. Regev's main field of interests lays in analyzing the implementation of the ideas of French semiotic structuralism in the ground of Russian philosophy and literature.

Roman Smerchewsky born in 1970 in Lvov, arrived in Israel in 1988. Today he is completing his studies for the M. A. in the Department for Slavic Studies in Hebrew University. His predominant activities lay in examination of Russian early literary records (Khazar issues (after Pritsak and Golb), restorating the spiritual culture of Igor's epic and «Povest Vremennikh Let»). He is current writer for numerous periodicals in Russian and Ukrainian.

Vadim Temirov (b. 1972 in Simferopol) now lives in St. Petersburg. Being a professional mathematician he is working for the M.A. in St. Petersburg Literary Academy. He is engaged in complex literary activities of today Russia, getting published occasionally in the various literary periodicals. Temirov is the author of single verse book «Musicalny Critic» (published in 1997 in Simferopol).
